Do You Have the Keys to a Lemon?

The NC Lemon Law provides an easy guideline to help consumers know if they might have a lemon on their hands.  During the first 24 months or 24,000 miles of your ownership of your new vehicle have you:

  • Taken the vehicle at least three times for repairs of the same defect or condition?

ANSWER: Yes.

  • Been forced to leave the vehicle at the repairing dealer over twenty business days within a twelve-month period of the warranty?

ANSWER: Yes.

After the first 24 months or 24,000 miles, but within the warranty period, has:

  • The dealership been unable to fix a recurring problem despite being given a reasonable number of attempts?

ANSWER: Yes.

  • The vehicle been out for repair attempts for an unreasonable period of time but the problems have not been  fixed?

ANSWER:  Yes.
